China’s first real-scene XR experience project, “Microcosmic Wonderland: Nan
Wutai,” has officially been launched at Chang’an Academy (a modern cultural
landmark, designed to integrate cultural exhibition, academic exchange, public
reading, and artistic experiences) and Chang’an Vanke Plaza in Xi’an. Merging
culture with cutting-edge technology, the project offers a digital touring experience
that allows urban visitors to appreciate the grandeur of the Qinling Mountains
from a new, immersive perspective – all within the city.
At the exhibition zone in Chang’an Academy, a simulated mountain installation
creates a striking fusion of nature and digital innovation, drawing crowds eager to
try the experience. Once wearing the VR headset, users are instantly transported
to the peaks of the Qinling range. In a seamless blend of physical and virtual
environments, they can walk across thrilling glass walkways, glide through rolling
clouds, experience mythical sword-flight, and observe the mountain’s geological
contours from a breathtaking aerial view – completely immersed in the scenic
wonder.
Nestled in the Zhongnan Mountains of the Qinling range, Nan Wutai is famous for
its vast seas of clouds and layered ridges. After clear or snowy weather, mist
often swirls between peaks, creating its signature landscape – a dream
destination for hikers and nature lovers.
As the country’s first real scene project combining advanced XR technology with
natural mountain scenery, “Microcosmic Wonderland: Nan Wutai” recreates the
area’s iconic views – including its cloudscapes and distinct peaks – in stunning
16K ultra-high definition within a compact 36-square-meter urban venue. This
enables city dwellers to “explore Zhongnan without leaving downtown.”
More than a visual replica, the experience builds an interactive, immersive
universe that redefines landscape presentation.
By leveraging next-generation XR technology, the project expands the
possibilities of traditional tourism and marks another step forward in building out
the local XR ecosystem. Plans are underway to launch similar venues in
Shanghai, Guangzhou, Lanzhou, Taiyuan, Hangzhou, and other cities, bringing
the digital beauty of Nan Wutai and the Qinling Mountains to audiences across
China through immersive technology.
