Recent media reports indicate that SeeYA Technology, a Chinese Micro-
OLED (silicon-based OLED) manufacturer, has announced it is completely clearing
its existing production lines to fully dedicate its resources to capacity and technical
preparations for Meta’s next-generation flagship VR headset.
This production line adjustment covers all product specifications; related inventory
and work-in-progress orders—including the 0.6-inch Micro-OLED screens used in the
RayNeo Air 4 series—have been fully cleared.
It is understood that Meta’s next-generation VR headset is expected to be officially
released in 2026 or 2027. One of the core upgrades of this product is a return to the
Micro-OLED display solution, with monocular resolution increased to 2.5K × 2.5K.
Compared to the currently mainstream LCD display solution, this technology
achieves significant improvements in contrast, response speed, and image detail,
effectively eliminating the “screen-door effect” in VR devices, reducing motion
sickness during use, and laying the core hardware foundation for an immersive
experience.
Notably, the report also states that Meta had previously commissioned CSOT to
develop a new Fast-LCD screen with the same resolution, but the project stalled at the
prototype stage and was not pursued further, leading to the eventual selection of the
Micro-OLED technology route.
It is reported that SeeYA Technology’s products have already successfully entered the
supply chains of leading global device manufacturers such as ByteDance,
Thunderbird Innovation, and Lenovo, providing core display panels and
comprehensive solutions for hit XR products like the RayNeo Air3 and Lenovo
Legion Glasses 2.
