Minister of Industry and Information Technology Zhang Yunming stated that AI-
powered devices such as smartphones, computers, and glasses are rapidly entering
Chinese households across the country. In the first three quarters, domestic
shipments of smart glasses exceeded 1.78 million units, with nearly 80% are AI
glasses.
Zhang noted that 2025 has seen accelerated innovation and iteration in global
artificial intelligence technology, driving deeper integration across industries. For
Chinas AI sector, the year has been marked by vitality and substantial achievement.
The ministry has focused on both advancing industrial development and deepening
practical applications, delivering notable results in four key areas:
First, the growth foundation has been strengthened. Chinese tech companies have
launched multiple AI chips, boosting intelligent computing capacity to 1,590 EFLOPS,
while high-quality industry datasets continue to emerge. Homegrown large-scale
models are taking a leading role in the global open-source ecosystem. According to
authoritative estimates, China now hosts over 6,000 AI companies, with the core
industry scale expected to exceed 1.2 trillion CNY in 2025.
Second, products are becoming more diverse. AI-enabled terminals, including
smartphones, computers, and glasses, are gaining wider adoption. In the first three
quarters of 2025, smart glasses shipments surpassed 1.78 million units, with AI
models accounting for nearly 80%, adding greater technological sophistication and
futuristic appeal to work and daily life.
Third, applications continue to expand. AI is now deployed across key sectors such
as steel, non-ferrous metals, power, and telecommunications, and is increasingly
embedded in critical processes like R&D, quality inspection, and customer service.
For example, a home appliance manufacturer implemented a self-developed “5G+AI”
industrial visual inspection system, raising detection accuracy to 99.98% and
boosting per capita productivity by 275%.
Fourth, the ecosystem is maturing. The National Artificial Intelligence Industry
Investment Fund, with a size of 60 billion CNY, has been officially launched. Efforts to
standardize AI have been intensified, resulting in the release of over 40 key national
and industry standards in 2025. Critical open-source projects such as intelligent
