Prelude: Why World Models Matter

Early AI systems reacted to inputs. Modern models generate language. World models go a step further: they attempt to represent how the world works, enabling AI to reason, plan, and learn from imagined futures rather than static data alone.

True world models make these structures explicit and trainable.


How Do You Build a World Model?

World models are trained by combining:

  • Perception (vision, audio, sensor data)

Instead of only learning from datasets, they learn by interacting with environments—real or simulated.

Simulated environments allow AI to:

  • Train safely at massive scale
