Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO He Gang Shares Photo Watermarked “HUAWEI AI Glasses,” Hinting New Product Has Entered Final Countdown to Launch
On the evening of April 8, He Gang, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group (BG), posted on Weibo, saying, “Spot the highlights yourself — stay tuned!” alongside a real-world photo bearing the watermark “HUAWEI AI Glasses.” The move has been widely interpreted as official confirmation of Huawei’s first AI glasses with standalone imaging capabilities, suggesting that the product has entered the final countdown to launch.
In fact, rumors about Huawei’s next-generation AI glasses have circulated in the industry for some time. According to reports, the new glasses will feature an onboard camera and support both photography and video recording. To improve wearing comfort, the product adopts a lightweight design, with total weight expected to come in below 50 grams.
More importantly, the glasses are expected to work closely with the HarmonyOS ecosystem. Photos and videos captured on the device can reportedly be synced to smartphones in real time and transferred across devices, further strengthening Huawei’s position in smart wearables and multi-device connectivity.
On the supply-chain side, sources familiar with the matter said the hinge module of the AI glasses will use a solution from Huayan New Materials, a unit under A-share- listed YUTO Tech. The hinge module is reportedly not based on a standard off-the- shelf design, but on a non-standard solution customized specifically for Huawei’s requirements. Huawei has set a shipment target of 400,000 to 500,000 units for this new generation of AI glasses.
Based on current information, the AI glasses are expected to debut alongside the Huawei Pura 90 smartphone series on April 21. After He Gang personally shared a sample image bearing the product watermark, expectations for these AI glasses — combining imaging, lightweight design, and HarmonyOS-based device coordination — have been rising rapidly.
