On March 29, the 2026 Hangzhou Dream Town Half Marathon kicked off at Future
Science and Technology City, Yuhang District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang. At this sporting
event attended by tens of thousands of participants, local public security authorities
introduced cutting-edge technological devices such as AI traffic management robots
and AR smart glasses. These “cutting-edge technologies” provided security for the
city marathon, creating a unique sight along the racecourse.
On-site, several AI traffic management robots stood out prominently alongside traffic
police officers. Not only could they precisely guide runners along the route and
broadcast real-time safety alerts, but one robot even made a “heart” gesture toward the
runners, cheering them on through anthropomorphic interaction.
Meanwhile, several on-duty police officers wore AR smart glasses to carry out
security duties. Through the lightweight smart lenses, officers could view overlaid
displays of personal information, vehicle data, and real-time instructions directly
before their eyes, enabling unobtrusive patrols and rapid verification in key areas.
Combined with backend big data support, the glasses could also assist in identifying
potential risks, ensuring seamless coordination between command and dispatch and
on-site response.
From the “AI traffic officer” that can “make a heart gesture” to the AR glasses
empowering frontline officers, technological elements have been deeply integrated
into every aspect of event security, enhancing management efficiency while adding a
strong sense of “futurism” to the marathon. Reportedly, this marks an innovative
practice in the local exploration of “smart policing” to safeguard large-scale events,
ensuring that event safety and the city’s warmth go hand in hand through human-
machine collaboration. (News source: VRAR World Report)
