India’s Sunovatech Eyes Southeast Asia With Ambitious Bangkok LBVR Entertainment Hub

The global location-based virtual reality industry has been searching for its breakout moment in Southeast Asia, and a Mumbai-based technology company is positioning itself to deliver it. Sunovatech India Pvt Ltd has announced plans to open a full-scale immersive entertainment center in Bangkok, Thailand, with a target launch date of February 2027 — a move that signals growing confidence in the commercial viability of premium VR experiences beyond the traditional markets of North America, Europe, and East Asia.

Three Worlds, One Venue

At the heart of the Bangkok project are three distinct VR experiences, each engineered to pull visitors into a radically different reality. Great Train Outlaws drops players into the boots of cowboys mid-heist aboard a speeding locomotive — a Wild West action scenario designed to trigger adrenaline and cooperation. Deep Space trades desert landscapes for the infinite cosmos, offering a cosmic adventure that promises the kind of scale and spectacle that flatscreen entertainment simply cannot match. And Deep Ocean rounds out the trio with an underwater thriller, leveraging VR’s unique capacity to generate genuine tension through environmental immersion.

The deliberate variety here is strategically smart. By spanning genre — Western action, sci-fi wonder, aquatic suspense — Sunovatech broadens its potential audience considerably. Families, thrill-seekers, and casual tourists all find a different hook. That breadth matters enormously in a city like Bangkok, where entertainment venues compete fiercely for tourist dollars and local leisure spending alike.

Why Bangkok, Why Now

Bangkok is not an obvious first choice for a company looking to plant its LBVR flag in Southeast Asia — and that’s precisely what makes it interesting. The Thai capital draws roughly 20 to 22 million international visitors annually even in recovery-era figures, and its domestic middle class has demonstrated consistent appetite for premium leisure experiences. The city already hosts a cluster of escape rooms, high-end dining concepts, and experiential retail — a cultural ecosystem that primes consumers for exactly the kind of pay-per-experience model that LBVR depends on.

The broader regional context also works in Sunovatech’s favor. Southeast Asia’s digital entertainment market has been expanding rapidly, driven by a young, mobile-first population increasingly comfortable with technology-mediated experiences. While home VR adoption remains modest across the region due to hardware costs, the location-based model sidesteps that barrier entirely — visitors access premium equipment and purpose-built environments without the overhead of ownership.

An Indian Company Building for the World

The involvement of Sunovatech India is itself a noteworthy development in the XR industry’s geography. India’s technology sector has long punched above its weight in software development and IT services, but the country’s presence in the consumer-facing immersive entertainment space has been limited. A project of this ambition — cross-border, multi-experience, commercially scaled — represents a meaningful step in a different direction.

Rishi Ahuja leads the Sunovatech team on this venture, with local support from Parut Penpayap helping to navigate the Bangkok market. That local partnership dimension is often underestimated in international venue launches; understanding municipal relationships, consumer habits, and venue positioning in a foreign city can make or break an opening.

The Bigger Picture for LBVR

The location-based VR sector has had a complicated decade. Early enthusiasm gave way to closures and consolidations as companies underestimated operational complexity and overestimated how quickly consumers would adopt novel experiences. But the survivors have learned hard lessons, and the current generation of LBVR concepts — including operators like Zero Latency and Dreamscape — have demonstrated that the model works when the content is compelling and the experience is repeatable.

Sunovatech’s three-experience lineup suggests an awareness of that lesson. Variety drives return visits. Return visits sustain venues.

With February 2027 still on the horizon, execution risk remains real. But if the Bangkok center delivers on its concept, it could become a proof point not just for Sunovatech, but for the wider proposition that Southeast Asia is ready for immersive entertainment at commercial scale.
