India’s Bloom Mobile B100M: Screen-Free Spatial Computer Controlled by Your Hands and Voice

What if the interface was invisible? That’s the underlying provocation behind the B100M, a spatial computing device from Indian startup Bloom Mobile that strips away the physical scaffolding we’ve come to expect from personal technology — no screens, no buttons, no bezels — and replaces them with something far more instinctive: your hands and your voice.

It’s an ambitious bet, and one that lands at an interesting moment. As the extended reality industry continues its slow but accelerating march toward mainstream adoption, most devices still tether users to some form of conventional input. The B100M takes a more radical position, asking whether the hardware itself can disappear into the background while the experience moves to the foreground.

Gesture and Voice as the New UI

At the core of the B100M’s design philosophy is the rejection of traditional human-computer interaction paradigms. Instead of tapping, swiping, or clicking, users control the device through hand gestures and voice commands — a combination that Bloom Mobile positions as a more natural and less friction-heavy way to engage with technology across a range of real-world environments.

This isn’t a niche use case. The device is designed with diverse environments in mind, suggesting applications that stretch well beyond entertainment or gaming into workplace, accessibility, and industrial contexts where hands-free, eyes-up control has genuine practical value. Think field technicians, medical professionals, or anyone operating in a context where touching a screen is inconvenient, unsanitary, or simply impossible.

Spatial Audio as Feedback Layer

One of the more thoughtful design decisions embedded in the B100M is its use of spatial audio that responds to user interactions. Rather than relying on visual confirmation — which is somewhat ironic given the absence of a screen — the device uses sound as a dynamic feedback layer. Audio shifts and responds in three-dimensional space based on what the user is doing, creating a sensory loop that aims to feel intuitive rather than learned.

It’s a design choice that signals Bloom Mobile’s awareness that removing a screen doesn’t just change what you look at — it changes the entire sensory contract between device and user. Spatial audio becomes the connective tissue that makes screenless interaction feel coherent rather than disorienting.

Built in India, With Institutional Backing

The B100M was incubated at the iTIC Foundation at IIT Hyderabad, one of India’s more active institutional hubs for deep technology development. The project received funding through India’s Nidhi Prayas grant, a government initiative aimed at supporting early-stage hardware and product innovation — a signal that the device isn’t just a concept render but a funded, structured development effort with institutional credibility behind it.

For those wanting to dig deeper into the project’s architecture and vision, Bloom Mobile’s development hub at b26.in offers further context on the technical direction the team is pursuing.

The Broader Shift This Represents

The B100M isn’t operating in a vacuum. It reflects a wider industry instinct that the next frontier of computing won’t look like computing at all — at least not in the way we currently recognize it. As spatial computing moves from concept to product category, the pressure is on developers to prove that eliminating familiar interface conventions doesn’t just create novelty, but genuinely reduces cognitive load and expands what’s possible.

Bloom Mobile’s approach — rooted in academic incubation, funded by national innovation infrastructure, and built around gesture and voice — is an earnest attempt to answer that challenge from one of the world’s most active technology ecosystems.

Whether the B100M ultimately delivers on its premise remains to be seen. But as a statement of intent, it’s a clear one: the future of human-computer interaction might not involve computers looking much like computers at all.
