At GITAM’s Centre for Excellence in Research (CXR) Gitam Visakhapatnam, students are pushing the boundaries of technology to tackle real-world challenges. Learning at CXR extends far beyond the classroom, with students progressing from foundational training to advanced research and development in various fields such as healthcare, education, manufacturing, industrial training, and digital transformation. Their projects showcase innovative applications of technology, including an immersive Omaha Beach Battle VR Experience, interactive VR Anatomy, 3D Human Heart Visualization, and AI-based AR Learning Systems.
Students gain hands-on experience with industry tools like Blender, Maya, Fusion 360, Unity, and XR hardware, such as Meta Quest devices, to build strong industry-ready capabilities. This practical training enables them to tackle complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
Research is a core pillar at CXR, with work spanning human cognition and motor abilities, face and eye tracking, digital twins, spatial computing, collaborative XR environments, metaverse applications, rehabilitation technologies, and intelligent immersive systems. The centre’s ecosystem of innovation brings together research, creativity, mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration to shape impactful solutions for the future.
